Problem Statement

With the increase in the marketing and consumer-centric industry, Hamburg has to work more efficiently than before, using the same infrastructure. In general, ships used to unload more than 1,000 containers, so there was not enough space to store all the containers in the backyard of the container storage. They had to ensure that the containers can be moved out in real time.

Using SAP S/4HANA Simple Logistics, the traffic data is accumulated and fed to SAP HANA Cloud. This intelligent data enables the port authority to be the sole interface between all customers and increase efficiency. With the IoT devices inside the truck, truck drivers receive the information about the arrival of containers. This ensures the arrival of each container at the right time to be picked up. Their main motto was to increase the efficiency, by distributing the goods to avoid a traffic jam.
In just 3 months, by moving to SAP S/4HANA, their efficiency increased by 12 percent. This way the Hamburg port could communicate its system reports across the world and track ships. SAP S/4HANA provides end-to-end communication and hence increases the efficiency.
