SAP mm is a materials management answer (module) that processes purchase orders, purchases, inventory management, vendor invoice process, and more. With SRM, we can optimize the purchase process.

In MM, you would create a purchase request. This would then be, by workflow, either created directly in an exceedingly order or after the approval of a manager or more. Once the acquisition order is made, it's sent to the provider. Now you wait, till the provider sends you the products and they are received, at which point you make a goods receipt in mm. (Yes, you may have an early delivery notice, however it’s overkill for the small things like that.)

Now, consider using SRM for this same function. In SRM, your supplier/supplier is more related to the case. So, for example, when you want to buy paper, you will see the supplier’s catalogue directly, not your own article master. The order is programmed to go directly to the vendor’s system and you'll track the standing much more simply. Thus, whereas mm communicates with the provider via documents (PO, Invoice, etc.), SRM is far higher integrated with the supplier’s system, that permits you to be way more economical in your interactions. The supplier can give you higher service and you get more for your money.
