Identity Access Management is also referred to as Azure Role-Based Acess Control Management or RBAC. It is a service provided by Azure to be able to assign roles to users to access their resource groups, application or individual resources.

Whereas, Azure active directory is an on-premise service to store users and manage them. It is also referred to as Identity management service offered by azure. It was earlier known as Windows Active directory which was when it hasn't been implemented on the cloud.
