Mapping in Informatica consists of target objects and source that are linked with the help of transformations sets. The transformations contain rules that help in defining the flow of data and the process of loading this data into the respective targets. Informatica Mapping consists of the following:

  • Source Definition: It helps in defining the characteristics and structure of the source, its data types, and the data source type
  • Transformation: These objects define the process of transformation of the source data, and allows you to apply numerous functions during the process
  • Target Definition: It defines the destination or the final target in which the data needs to be loaded
  • Links: It connects the source definition with the target tables and various transformations. It also helps to define the process of flow of data from the source to the target along with the transformations
