Query on private subnet

What is a private subnet in AWS?

Please explain.

The private subnet routes traffic to a NAT instance through NAT gateway present in public subnet. Private subnet instances uses only private ip and no public ip is required. They are no routed to 0.0.0.0/0 for making it a private subnet with no inbound and outbound internet access.
