How to create set in Tableau Desktop?

Sets are nothing but kind of subset of whole data set that you have created based on some conditions. Sets can be created only for Dimensions (String, Date Time, Geographical datatype), one can not create set using measures (Numerical datatype). So below are the steps to create the set in Tableau Desktop, i will create a set for finding the Top 10 customers based on Sales using the default superstore data set:

Step 1: Select the field (Customer name) from dimensions, right click and select Create>>Set as shown below

Step 2: Then pop up window will appear to configure the new set. So first rename that set (Top 10) then click on Top then choose By field under that select top 10 by sum of sales as shown below.

Step 3: Then this newly created set (Top 10) will appear in bottom left side under set as shown below:

Step 4: Drop Customers name in Rows and SUM(Sales) in Columns shelf then set (Top 10) in to the filters card, now you will see only top 10 customers in your bar chart visualization.
