A reporting snapshot allows us to report on historical data. The authorized users can save the tabular or summary report results to fields on a custom object. After that, they map those fields to corresponding fields on a target object. They can schedule when to run the report to load the custom object's fields with the report's data. Reporting snapshots allows us to work with report data.

Once setting up a reporting snapshot is completed, users can start:

  • Creating and running custom reports from the target object
  • Creating dashboards from the source report
  • Defining list views on the target object
