Neural networks are collections of algorithms that are simplified models loosely based on the working of the human brain. They are used to detect patterns easily by making use of input data through perception and other key operations. In the field of Machine Learning, neural networks are mainly used to perform classification and clustering easily. For example, unlabeled input data can be grouped to find similarities in them to be later classified based on the similarities. Neural networks are extremely powerful in efficiently handling data and learning from them. The key concepts such as the depth, perception, and hidden layers are what give the neural networks the structure and the complexity they need to solve problems effectively.
