Can anyone tell me whether stopping and terminating instances have the same effect in AWS?

Stopping and terminating instances doesn’t have same effect in AWS. If you stop an instance in AWS, the devices attached and the volume will not be deleted. On the other hand, if you terminate an instance, the devices and the root volume will be deleted.

If we stop an instance, one can restart it when they wish whereas when an instance is terminated, it cannot be restarted. It has to be started fresh.
