Could someone tell me what is Systems Programming?

Systems Programming is defined as the activity of programming system software for computers. Now, this type of software is different from Application Programming. Because Application Programming essentially offers services to its users, whereas Systems Programming builds a platform for other software, or aids in building software like OS, game engines, industrial automation, etc. These types of programming also require a great deal of know-how of hardware.
