My question: Is there a way to control for line width more precisely to avoid the result in the second plot? I particularly find it document-unfriendly, and more so for publishing purposes to include the plot with the newly defined line width.

I have a hacky solution, which is to stick an unmatched } before my \section. This then ends the \details section. I then have to not put an ending } in, because roxygen sticks one in thinking its closing the \details. Eeeeeurrrrrrrrgh.

To change the line width in ggplot2, you can use the size argument in the geom_line function as follows:

data(mtcars)

ggplot(mtcars,aes(disp, qsec)) + geom_line(size = 2)
