How is Kubernetes different from Docker Swarm?

Generally speaking, they are very similar in function. Features vary, but the biggest difference is Kubernetes(k8s) is run by a community driven consortium (CNCF) whereas Docker is run by a single company. They are both open source projects, but foundation run projects tend to be more open by nature than a project run by a for-profit company. Personal opinion only.
