Before learning how to create hierarchies in Tableau, let’s have a look on what are these hierarchies. This particular term is not limited to tableau you might have heard this word and used in your daily life conversation. So in data, hierarchies are arranging the data in a unique manner like if you want to create a hierarchy for location then it will be like Region>>Country>>State>>City>>Postal code similarly for time hierarchy will have Year>>Quarter>>Month>>Week>>Day as levels. There is no matter to arrange all the fields like in this manner you can add the fields in your hierarchy based on your requirement. By default tableau created hierarchies but you can create custom hierarchies also.
