Could someone tell me whether AMP affects SEO?

AMP or Accelerated Mobile Page was introduced by Google in response to Facebook Instant Articles and Apple News. It doesn’t directly affect rankings, but it does help in loading the web pages faster which directly increased the SEO score which in turn increased the SERP ranking.
