No, not really, but ultimately you should get along with learning basic programming skills while you dig deep into A.I. and Machine Learning and similar Stuff. There is a lot of Mathematics eg. Probability, Statistics, Optimization, etc involved in A.I. but to see something working you can't do all calculations by yourself because there are millions of data sets and parameters to consider while researching in A.I. and calculating and predicting things. So, ultimately, you need to program your algorithms and comparisons to see your algorithms work in functional life.
