Yes, commerce students could do data analytics. It will take time, but with little effort consistently, anyone willing to learn Data analytics could learn it. Data analytics is the field where large quantities of data (both structured and unstructured) are collected, managed, and processed to harness meaningful insights. A commerce student or a student from any stream could become a data analyst. For that, certain recommended things need to be done to land a job as a Data analyst.

  1. First of all, getting a degree in a relevant field like math, statistics, computer science, IT, etc. will give you an edge when going for the entry-level job hunt, as most companies prefer a graduate with a relevant degree.
  2. Next, you need to be skilled, and that means you need to have solid knowledge in Excel, SQL, programming languages like R, Python, etc., and data visualization software like Tableau, etc.
  3. Once you get skilled, the next thing is to do as many industrial-standard projects, you could do. Because getting skilled is another thing and attaining industrial exposure is another.

To get started and gain the necessary skillset, I would recommend you to enroll in a data analytics course that would help you get skilled in a comprehensive way. And for that, I would recommend you to choose Intellipaat’s courses as they are designed keeping in mind the real-time industry needs, and their courses are packed with several industry-level projects that help you apply the learned concepts and gain the necessary practical skills. Also, watch Intellipaat’s video on Data analytics for beginners, to get yourself started.
