Data Science requires skills in a lot of areas and coding is one. Among all the programming languages, Python is the most widely used and it is a very easy language to pick up. As a matter of fact, Intellipaat has a FREE foundation course on Python for Data Science if you are interested to learn.

The coding part is required in three of the phases in Data Science viz. Data preparation, model planning, and model building. Then again, coding is not the key part of Data Science but understanding a problem and coming up with the right solution is. The coding acts as a support system. You can be good at statistics and mathematics as well to become a Data Scientist. Here are a few of the skills that you can consider learning:

  • Programming in Python

  • R programming

  • Unstructured Data

  • Machine Learning and AI

  • Big Data Hadoop

  • SQL Database/Coding

  • Apache Spark

  • Statistics

  • Multivariable Calculus & Linear Algebra

  • Data Visualization & Communication

There are all-inclusive training programs available that can help you start from scratch as a beginner. You can look into Intellipaat’s Data Science online course, which is in collaboration with IBM. Data Science requires a lot of practice and dedication to diverse projects. Intellipaat offers the opportunity for learners to have hands-on experience in several projects and practical assignments. This familiarizes them with real-industry problems.

Here is a free Data Science course by Intellipaat available on YouTube.
