When transitioning from technical support to system administration, individuals should develop skills in server management, network configuration, and security protocols. Knowledge areas should include operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows), virtualization, scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash), and troubleshooting. Strong communication and teamwork skills are also essential to effectively collaborate with IT teams and end-users while maintaining and optimizing computer systems and  networks.
