Yes Azure is seriously giving a stiff competition to AWS. Although AWS has been in the market for a longer period of time we Azure is quickly catching up. Both these service providers are providing services at pricing that is very close to each other and are comping up with new services as well. Azure has also expanded reach int 54 regions and is not showing any sign of stopping.
