Can anyone tell me what is a snapshot in AWS EC2?

Amazon EBS snapshot is used for creating a point-in-time copy of your Amazon EBS volume, which is lazily copied to Amazon S3. EBS snapshots are incremental copies of data i.e. in the net EBS, only those the unique blocks of EBS volume data from the last EBS snapshots that is changed will be stored.
