In general, a Data Scientist has to code a lot, but the level and type of coding depend on your expected target deliverables. Let’s have look at the different responsibilities of Data  science Professionals:

• Some data scientists develop strategic research or ML/data product prototypes. So, they need to deal with a nominal amount of code.

• Some data scientists that contribute as software engineers need to code a lot as they are contributing the code of production level.
