Can anyone tell me what is the digital signature in cybersecurity?

A digital signature is a process that validates the authenticity and integrity of a message, software, or digital documents and guarantees that the contents of a message are not changed. It helps us to verify the author name, date and time of signatures, and authenticate the contents of a message contents. 

The main reasons to implement a digital signature to communication is Authentication, Non-repudiation, and Integrity.
