You might have heard, mount and unmount terms in your phone, probably for SD Cards. So, what exactly is Mount? Let me explain that to you. Mounting is the process of adding a particular filesystem to the already accessible filesystems. This process enables you to add that filesystem of a storage device, accessible to you, to edit, manipulate, delete, add, or for other needs. This concept is mostly heard for additional storage devices like SD Card, USB storage and DVD’s, CD’s, etc. This is what is the concept of Mount in Linux. Here a filesystem, is a long list or hierarchy of directories, that stores all the data in an ordered fashion.
