As an intern in the field of Data Science, you should at least have your basic statistics and programming concepts cleared. As for a selection of programming, you can go for either Python or R, the trend of the industry is progressing towards Python, but a lot of the work is still done under R.

It’ll help to check the technology stack of particular companies if you have some in mind, the choice of language isn’t that big a deal, you can easily shift to one from another and ideally, you should know both moving forward in your career in the field.
