HVM is abbreviated as Hardware Virtual Machine and this is the type of instance that mimics a bare-metal server setup. It provides hardware resolution and using this type of instance, OS can run directly run on the top of the virtual machine irrespective of any additional configuration and it looks like it's running in the real physical server.
