I am using windows 10,64 bits.

I am trying to update my Spyder IDE to the 4.0.0 version.

I tried with both the anaconda prompt and anaconda navigator but I was not able to update my spyder IDE. I even uninstalled and installed Anaconda and reinstalled it but spyder IDE didn't get updated.

So I executed anaconda prompt as an administrator and gave the command as below:

conda update spyder

Then gave the below command:

conda install spyder=4.0.0

Prompt responded as:

Collecting package metadata (current_repodata.json): done

Solving environment: failed with initial frozen solve. Retrying with flexible solve.

Solving environment: failed with repodata from current_repodata.json, will retry with next repodata source.

I tried doing the same with Anaconda Navigator I could not update my spyder.

When I tried to upgrade conda I got the below error:

FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'C:\\Users\\brichard\\AppData\\Local\\Continuum\\anaconda3\\Menu\\spyder_shortcut.jsodone

AND

CondaError: Cannot link a source that does not exist. C:\Users\brichard\AppData\Local\Continuum\anaconda3\Scripts\conda.exe

Running `conda clean --packages` may resolve your problem.

Can anyone help me solve it?

You can run the below command in the Anaconda Prompt :

conda update anaconda

and then

conda install spyder=4

This will help you update the Spyder IDE to version 4.0.0
