Apache Hive is a data warehouse system developed on top of Hadoop Distributed File System for data summarization and analysis and for querying of large data systems in the Hadoop platform. It converts SQL-like queries into MapReduce jobs for easy execution and processing of huge volumes of data.

Hive makes the job easy for performing the following operations:

  • Data encapsulation
  • Ad-hoc queries
  • Analysis of huge datasets
