Could someone tell me the main use of Amazon EMR?

The concept of MapReduce was first developed by Google in 2004 for indexing their web pages. The Elastic term in EMR represents its agility in scaling up or down depending on the demand that sets it apart from on-premise solutions. AWS EMR is based on Apache Hadoop, and its main use is to process large data sets with ease within distributed environments.
