The answer to the question of will, GCP overtake AWS, depends on several factors. And not just on the market share front. If you go by market share, AWS comes out cleanly as the leader of the pack with 33% and GCP with a little over 7%. But recently GCP is growing at 2X the rate of AWS growth, which indicates that GCP features are resonating with the potential customers.
AWS was launched in 2006 and has benefited by being an early-mover than all other cloud computing vendors. GCP offers many features almost more than 95, but still, they are pretty less than what AWS offers (more than 200). But in terms of pricing, GCP is very cost-effective compared to AWS. And many companies are also eyeing GCP as their cloud services vendor in recent times. The road ahead for GCP is very difficult as AWS is entering every industry it could with its huge benefits and are more wide-spread than all the other market players.
