A ledger by definition is a term that is defined as a book or collection of various financial transactions. A ledger in blockchain is effectively a database that is distributed and decentralized to store all financial transactions to provide a safe and secure environment that is immutable. That is once the data is stored on the blocks, it cannot be manipulated or removed as these transactions are verified and validated by designated network participants.
