The correct answer to the question “Which of the following is not a type of cloud” is option (c). Protected. And all the other options denote a type of cloud, Private Cloud, Public Cloud, and Hybrid Cloud. If you are a beginner, I would suggest you check out the Cloud Computing courses, from Intellipaat, as they offer a range of courses on various cloud platforms, and you could check them out and enroll in them. If you are just starting out in Cloud Computing, then I would suggest you check out the Cloud Computing tutorial and watch our following video on Career Cloud.

Cloud computing is the delivery of services over the Internet. It delivers computing resources such as servers, software or applications, etc. over the internet. All of these services are provided over the Internet rather than using these services on your personal computer or local servers.

You can consider cloud computing as a big hard drive that you don't need to manage or own by yourself. You can just use these services over the Internet. For example, when you are using services like Google Drive or Netflix to watch movies, you are using cloud computing.

There are different types of cloud

  • Public cloud -> are the services that are delivered over the internet and shared among various organizations.

Example - Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • Private cloud -> services that are owned by a private organization and are maintained over a private network.

Example - VMware private cloud, Microsoft Azure cloud

  • Hybrid cloud -> combines both public and private cloud, allowing the sharing of data and applications among them. It offers flexibility and optimization to the infrastructure.

Example -> Integrating a private cloud with AWS

There is no such thing as a protected cloud, and other different types of clouds are community clouds and multi-clouds, but there is no protected cloud.

Answer: c) Private

Explanations:

1. Cloud Service Classification: The general classification in cloud computing falls basically into three types categorized according to the access and also the models of deployment. These are classified into three sub-types and they fall within the followings.

  • Private Cloud: This service is specifically designed for only one organization. In contrast, this kind of service has more control over the resources and it is much more secure as there is no third party or any other external party who accesses it.
  • Public Cloud: In this scenario, the services are over public internet and shared with various other organizations. Mostly it is offered by third-party service providers; therefore it's scalable as well as cost-effective.
  • Hybrid Cloud: It is a mixture of private and public clouds. By this, the organizations have the ability to avail the features of both types. Therefore it provides a custom approach toward resource management.

2. Not a Known Category: Protected is not a known category in the cloud. Although Protected does denote some sort of protection or security capability, it's not any form of classification for a cloud service like Private, Public, or Hybrid. Security, on the other hand, is simply an aspect of all cloud, and it does not have its class.

3. Cloud Security: Anything related to cloud computing can't be avoided without giving rise to security, compliance, and data protection; these are all valid concerns related to any kind of cloud and not a variety of cloud.

Conclusion : So, "Protected" does not refer to a different category of cloud service hence making the correct option c.
