There is an immense requirement for good data scientists. It's not concerning whether you know R and Hadoop. It's about obtaining knowledge and classifying important things from non-important. Data science is a union of applied statistics, software engineering and, often, domain knowledge whatever that domain may be. It's not easy and it's not going to be simple in the future.  Coding in SQL, R, Hadoop, Python, etc are all main skillsets that a data scientist needs to have, but they aren’t the entire job. They’re just a segment, not the whole. It's always easy to learn a few basics about the field quickly due to plenty of tutorials and youtube videos online. But, it's the master talent that is rare to find and usually requires huge efforts to get there.
