In my opinion, a data scientist without adequate knowledge of programming is called a statistician. You cannot learn Data Science without coding. If not advanced I would advise you need at least know the basics of Programming. Programming can be seen as a medium on which Data Science operates.
You can get a hands-on project by referring to the Data Scientist which will teach you Data Science from scratch to advance.
