LOD stands for Level of Detail. Tableau makes use of LOD expressions in order to run queries. These queries involve multiple dimensions at the level of data source rather than bringing them to the interface of Tableau. LOD can be classified into 3 expressions: FIXED LOD, INCLUDE LOD and EXCLUDE LOD.
The FIXED LOD helps to compute data values using the dimensions specified. It does not refer to the other dimensions that are in view.
INCLUDE LOD is a LOD expression that is used to compute data values by making use of the specified dimensions along with the dimensions that are in view.
EXCLUDE LOD subtracts the dimensions from the level of view.
