When I'm using Route 53, I came across a term called the target group. Can anybody explain, what is that target group?

The target group lets to know the load balancer, where to direct the traffic to EC2 instances, fixed IP addresses, or Lamda functions, out of other resources. While we create a load balancer, we create single or multiple listeners and set the listener rules to direct the traffic to a single group.
