In Tableau workbook once you open a new worksheet then under Data pane you will see Dimensions and Measures. So all the columns of the data which are String, Date time, Geographical in data type will come under dimensions while the numerical data type column will come under measures.

So once you click on the field then the color of the field will decide like if the color is green then the field is continuous and if the field color is blue then it will be discrete. You can convert these fields from continuous to discrete or vice versa. Color of the field changes according to field type i.e. discrete or continuous. Generally fields which are under Dimensions are discrete and the fields under Measure are continuous.

If you also want to learn Tableau and make your career in it then I would suggest you must take up the following Tableau Certification course online.
