The technologies can change but the most important skill needed is to have a good grasp on how to work with one of these technologies in each category. I’ve listed the most important things you need to learn to increase your chances of landing an entry-level DevOps Engineer position.

The five basic things an entry-level DevOps engineer need to know are

  • Cloud - AWS, GCP, Azure
  • VCS - Git, Perforce, Mercurial, SVN, TFS
  • CI tool - Jenkins, Atlassian Bamboo, Team City
  • CM tool - Ansible, Chef, Salt, Puppet
  • Scripting language- Python, Bash, Perl, Shell
