I want to attach a different security group to my running instance in AWS.

Is it possible by stopping or without stopping the instance?

Answer 1

You can attach/detach security group without stopping your instance.

Select your instance

Actions->Networking->Change Security groups.

Now, you can attach /detach whatever the security group you needed.
