OpenVPN based Site-to-Site VPN between Azure on premise server is it secure?

Question

I was trying to setup a VPN without using firewall. So, I go for OpenVPN which can able to do the work. Can anyone help me is it secure to use OpenVPN?

Basically, the traffic which flow over OpenVPN is in encrypted form so it is safe to use. Also, it uses SSL/TLS settings for the exchange of keys so it become safe to bypass your firewall as well.
