I am from a non-programming background. I want to be a data scientist. Can anyone suggest me which programming language should I learn?

There is no absolute answer to this question. It depends on your aim of learning a programming language. It also depends on your area of interest.

If your main intention is to become a developer with a good salary then learn Java, Python or Javascript languages.
If you want to excel in Data science then Python and R programming are better.
If you want to master designing games then C++, Java languages are better.

If your area of interest in web designing then better to prefer Javascript, Java, and PHP.
