You should consider the following while taking up the CISSP certification:

  1. Valued and standardized certification: The CISSP credential is regarded highly by top MNCs worldwide when they go in search of individuals with working knowledge in information security. In fact, NSA has collaborated with ISC2 to adopt it as a baseline for the ISSEP. It remains the most in-demand certification in the field of information security.
  2. Popularity: As of January 1, 2021, there are 147,591 individuals from over 170 countries who are registered members of CISSP according to the reports by (ISC)².
  3. Oldest certification: CISSP is the oldest IT certification to exist till now and has been going strong for three decades.
  4. Average salary and ranking: Certified CISSP professionals earn significantly higher (25% as per Global Information Security and Workforce study) than their non-certified counterparts. According to ZipRecruiter, the average annual salary paid to a CISSP job profile in the United States is US$125,470. CISSP is also one of the highest-paying credentials in the IT industry. In the top 15 highest-paying jobs, the TechRepublic survey has ranked CISSP jobs at number 4.

  6. Stability in career: Information security is among the most stable professions in the IT industry, so a certification in CISSP will ensure that you have a solid career run.
  7. Certification requirements in jobs: CISSP certification is listed as the basic requirement for anyone who wants to pursue a career in information security, mostly. For instance, NSA has mandated the CISSP certification for any of their positions. Earning this certification will help you ensure that you have the basic requirement to apply for some of the top jobs in the domain.
  8. Salary hikes: Salary hikes happen at a higher rate for CISSP professionals than their non-certified peers in any domain in the IT industry as per studies conducted by the International Data Corporation (IDC).
  9. Specific skill sets for IT security professionals: If you look at job portals, you will find that recruiters who are interested in hiring security professionals, mostly, look for a very specific set of skills. The CISSP curriculum is extensive in this regard and covers every aspect of information systems security, which will naturally make you a good fit for any security job out there.
  10. Increased budget for IT security: Instances of huge budgets in IT security are pretty evident. Let’s look at a study conducted by Deloitte and the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center. It reported an average expense of 10% of the IT budgets on Cybersecurity by financial services. That amounts to around 0.9% of the company revenues (i.e., up to US$3,000) invested per employee. Microsoft, on the other hand, has planned to invest over US$1 billion a year in Cybersecurity. Earning a CISSP certification will ensure that you will be a part of such fat security budgets.
  11. CISSP expertise in the latest technological developments: With BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), social media, Cloud Computing applications, Big Data-driven solutions, and other trends becoming the new normal, the need for CISSP-certified professionals has also become a part of that protocol.

  14. Constant demand for security professionals: Illegal hacking activities and security breaches have intensified, which has made it all the more vital for a strong fortress in the form of security to be in place. This has made it conducive for qualified security experts to thrive and grow. CISSP exam certification is the most sought-after for this very reason.
  15. ISC2’s invaluable initiatives: The (ISC)2 has taken various initiatives to offer scholarships for female security professionals, its Global Chapter Program, and the informative Global Workforce Informative Study, all of which attract the best security skills globally and drive growth in the Cybersecurity domain.
