Evolution Of Technology

The evolution of mankind and technology has been going hand in hand. Technology has grown from being an option to now being a need. It is very evident that without technology, our lives would not be the same. Technology has played a major role in making our lives effortless. Let’s talk about it in detail with the help of examples.

Technology in Our Daily Lives

1. Internet

This is clearly a digital era where the internet has become a necessity. It is transforming lives by revolutionizing our work and communication. Because of the internet, we can now access everything at our fingertips. Today, whatever you need help with, you can find on the Internet, from using the Internet to Google certain things to using it for learning, to going from one place to another, and a plethora of other reasons.

The Internet has become so crucial for our existence that life without it now looks impossible. If you look around you, you will see how the internet is helping you with your day-to-day activities. The Internet helps you be in touch with the latest news, keeps you connected with people all over the globe, helps with booking cabs for transport, learning from Wikipedia, and so many other things. The Internet is and will always be the need of the hour.

2. Smartphones

We can say without a doubt that smartphones are one of the most used technologies of the 21st century. So much that life without smartphones cannot be imagined. A smartphone intelligently combines the use of a phone and computer in a single palm-sized device.

Smartphones help us to connect with other people over voice calls, video calls, and via messages using built-in calling options, WhatsApp, Zoom, Facetime, etc. This has brought the world closer to each other no matter the distance.

Along with that, smartphones help you now connect to your smart gadgets like lights, TV, ac, and various other electronic gadgets to help you automate them from your palm.

Smartphones also come with applications to track your health and fitness. You get to track your expenses with the help of various apps, make payments, set alarms, use maps, and so many other things. Basically, if you have a smartphone in your hand, you don’t need anything else.

3. Online shopping

Online Shopping has flipped the shopping scenario. Earlier, we used to put so much effort into getting what we needed. To buy ten different things, we would literally have to go to ten different shops. If we talk about modern-day due to technology, we can now order a variety of things just from the comfort of our homes while sitting on our chairs or lying in bed.

Online platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra have revolutionized the whole shopping experience by offering a wide variety of items that include clothing, gadgets, footwear, books, kitchen essentials, home appliances, and whatnot!

Online Delivery platforms like Zomato, Swiggy, Zepto, and Blinkit have brought more and more ease into our lives by delivering food and essential items like rations or groceries within 15-20 minutes to our doorstep.

Doesn’t this whole treatment make you feel like a King or Queen already? If you ask me I don’t even remember when was the last time I shopped offline.

4. Transport

Whether it is booking your flight tickets online, bus tickets, or railway tickets, technology has clearly played its charm here in this area as well. Now you can get the best price for transportation from one place to another just by searching online. You have the liberty to cancel or reschedule your travel as well.

Now let’s talk about local transport. There have been instances in all our lives where we want to go from one place to another, and we don’t get a rickshaw or bus. Technology has stepped into our rescue by helping us find cabs, autos, and bikes from the comfort of our homes. Apps like Ola and Uber have reshaped the entire transport system in India. Along with that there is also a layer of security that is added to these services.

Another interesting technology that is being used a lot is Google Maps. I have to say this is such an innovation! You do not need to remember the routes anymore; you don’t need to ask 100 people which way you should go. You don’t even have to worry anymore if you have never been to a particular place before. All you gotta do is add your current location (source) and enter the location you want to reach (destination). After that, life gets as easy as breathing, you just have to follow the route on the map, which will take you to the place in the minimum time and via the shortest route.

5. Home appliances

Technology has transformed homes into smart homes. Home appliances like smart locks, door cameras, smart AC, smart TVs, vacuum cleaners, smart fans, and smart beds have changed the way of living. Clearly, “Smart” has become the new normal.  I cannot deny that technology has raised people’s standard of living, and of course, it has added a lot of ease and comfort along with that.

Voice-controlled assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant have introduced something unique. Now, technology can legitimately talk to people and ask them what they need. These devices help with hands-free communication. They can make calls, play your favorite songs, set alarms for you, make announcements, etc.

OTT platforms have brought the fun and thrill of watching movies at home. Now, there are so many OTT platforms, like Netflix, Amazon Prime videos, Hotstar, Voot, etc, that keep coming up with interesting web series and movies.

The subscription to these apps is really affordable. On a Sunday evening, when you don’t feel like doing anything, you can just cuddle on your couch and watch something interesting on these platforms. Just imagine no dressing up, and no hassle of transport, no loss of time. You can just have your coffee or something interesting to eat and watch whatever you want to watch from the comfort of your home. How cool is that?

7. Youtube

YouTube is another platform that is a product of technological advancement. It is now a leading platform for learning everything you want from anywhere. All you have to do is go to the app and search.

YouTube has also become a great place for creators of all kinds. Whether you are a photographer, cook, coder, videographer, poet, musician, dancer, artist, vlogger, or you have any skill, you can shoot it with the use of technology, share it, and make money.

A few years back, I don’t think we even thought of something like that. I am really in awe of the way technology is shaping our lives and making information sharing and accessing so smooth and effortless. Also, the fact that one can just be themselves, put out their creativity on a platform, and earn from it really deserves lots of appreciation.

8. Health Monitoring

Technology has given birth to another innovation in the form of sleep,  health, and fitness tracking devices. These gadgets are available as rings and watches that one can simply put on and carry on with their everyday chores.

These gadgets like Oura Ring and Apple Watch help you track your sleep and give you a detailed insight into your sleep patterns. With the help of this data, they predict any changes in your health and help you understand what exactly you need to fix. These devices also track your heart rate and fitness and keep you informed about whatever is happening in your body.

There are also gadgets that help females track their periods and ovulation. They can track when they get their last periods and when is their next due date. Some gadgets also help in predicting pregnancy.

These advancements have clearly made life easy for women and people in general. In the coming years, there will be many more great advancements that will help us track our health more closely.

9. Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence has become the talk of the town, especially in the last couple of years. We have seen various AI assistants like ChatpGpt, Meta, Copilot, Perplexity, and so many more that have changed how humans interact with technology.

AI has instant answers to all your questions in fact, it works alongside you as your teammate or assistant to help you come up with the best output. AI is a promising technology that is here to stay and slay. It has started gathering attention and is already being used by millions. In no time, AI will be seen everywhere and used by everyone, just like smartphones and the internet.

10. Remote Work Jobs

Technology has introduced us to remote jobs where we can work from anywhere at any time and stay connected globally. Technology has made it easier for people to collaborate with each other via platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, Slack, Skype, etc.

Technology has also introduced project management software like Docs, Google Drive, Sheets, Trello, Jira, etc, to store data and keep track of work by individuals.

Along with making remote work possible, Technology has made working productive and also provided employees with the liberty to balance their personal and professional lives well.

This has definitely been an advantage for businesses around the globe but a great advantage for new startups. Startups are now working and booming with the possibility of remote work as it saves them office rent, transportation expenses, etc.

11. Mobile banking

With the help of mobile banking, financial services have taken a step closer to us. Mobile banking lets users access their bank account 24/7 from any place. This has made cash withdrawals, transferring, and depositing pretty smooth.

Nowadays, mobile wallets like GPay and Paytm are also making a lot of buzz. With these apps, we can make payments in the blink of an eye. The QR code scanning feature of these wallets is also being used everywhere, from shops to cabs. These apps have a user-friendly interface, due to which any user can make payments online very smoothly.

Apps also come with in-app chat support or customer service numbers to help users resolve any disputes that might happen during any transaction. Chatbots have also been introduced in various apps to help users with any information that they might need.

12. Science

Technology has played a vital role in all the advancements in science. There has been so much boom in research, experimentation, and innovation. We now have more powerful microscopes and telescopes in place which are fueling the research. High-performance computing is helping scientists in understanding climate changes and outer space exploration.

The Indian Space Research Organisation has landed its satellite Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon with the use of the latest technology. Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX, has created reusable rockets. Their rockets like Falcon 9 and Starship have managed to launch a payload into space and return back to Earth.

There have been various advancements in the field of science that have been aided by technology.
