What is terraform used for?

Can anyone tell me the use cases of Terraform?

Terraform tool is used for building Heroku, a popular PaaS for hosting web applications. It is an ideal tool for building and handling multi-tier applications, for self-service clusters – to replace centralized operations to manage their own infrastructure using tools provided by the central operations team.

Terraform is also used for software demos on their own infrastructure and even allows us to tweak parameters such as cluster size to test tools at any scale. Terraform also makes it easy to maintain parallel environments and makes it easy to elastically create and destroy them. Terraform tool allows a single configuration to be used to manage multiple providers and makes it fault-tolerant.
