Is it hard to get a job in Google as a data scientist?

Yes and no. Depends entirely on you. If you are good, I don’t see why they will not hire good talent. If your experience is relevant to the available job, you should have a better chance. Following is a job description given by Google for one of their Data Science posts: 

Minimum qualifications:

• A Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Computational Biology, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering,  Operations Research, Economics, Bioinformatics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience

• At least 2 years of work experience in the data analysis-related domain

• Proficient with statistical software (Python, R, MATLAB, Pandas) and database languages (SQL)

Responsibilities: 

• Work with huge data sets that are complex

• Solve tough analysis problems that are and non-routine through advanced analytical methods

• Iteratively develop prototypes for analysis pipelines to gain insights at scale

• Build in-depth knowledge of Google metrics and data structures

• Recommend changes for product development as required

• Analysis through data gathering, requirements specification, analysis, processing, presentations, and ongoing deliverables

• Optimization methods, research and develop analysis, and forecasting for improvement of quality of Google's user-facing products

• Interact cross-functionally and make business recommendations for forecasting, cost-benefit, experiment analysis through effective presentations and visual displays of quantitative information of your findings at multiple levels to stakeholders
