Could someone tell me what is a function in SQL?

SQL Functions are in its basic form a set of statements that takes input constraint, perform an action, and return results. Functions are database objects in the SQL Server.

Functions are used for retrieving anything of a single value or a table and couldn’t be used for updating or deleting a database.
