The Oracle Platform offers a Java Certification previously known as Sun Java Certification exams and now known as Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer (OCPJP). To earn this certificate, the candidate is required to clear certain Java Certification exams provided by Oracle and categorized on the basis of versions and job roles. The candidates are rewarded with the respective certifications after they have passed the exam. Oracle is widely recognized platform for these certifications.

Java Certification Path

There are basically five levels of Oracle Java Certification categorized on the basis of Job Roles:

  • Oracle Certified Junior Associate (OCJA)
  • Oracle Certified Associate (OCA)
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
  • Oracle Certified Expert (OCE)
  • Oracle Certified Master (OCM)

Let’s discuss each type of certification one by one:

Oracle Certified Junior Associate (OCJA): This certification is the most basic and intended as a novice level certification. This certification is meant for candidates who are new to Java, mostly students.

Oracle Certified Associate (OCA): This certification is a step up from OCJP. This certification ensures that the candidate is equipped with the basic and fundamental knowledge about Java and coding.

Oracle Certified Professional (OCP): This certification is built on top of the fundamental skills gained by the candidate in OCA. This certification is often used by IT managers to evaluate the qualifications of candidates.

Oracle Certified Master (OCM): This certification represents the highest level of skills and knowledge. The candidates going for this certification are expected to be able to answer even the most difficult questions and solve complex problems. This certification is designed on top of fundamental skills gained in OCA and advanced skills gained in OCP.

Oracle Certified Expert (OCE): This certification validates the skills of the candidate in specific technologies or domains. This certification is independent of the OCA, OCP, and OCM.
