Cannot ping AWS EC2 instance

I have an EC2 instance running in AWS. When I try to ping from my local box it is not available.

How can I make the instance pingable?

You will have to edit the security group and add a new rule. Follow the below mentioned steps:

Step 1: Go to the security group and click on edit inbound rule

Step 2: Give the following values to their respective fields:

• Type: Custom ICMP rule
• Protocol: Echo Request
• Port: N/A
• Source: Anywhere
