When will, if ever, artificial intelligence surpass humans?

I don't think AI can surpass human intelligence. But, AI can produce machines that can be “smart” enough to replace most all the jobs done by humans, but they won’t turn into terminators or gods. In the near future, self-driving electric vehicles can be plugging themselves in and driving you around the city. These advancements in AI can affect the socio-economic and political system. But they will only pretend not to be as dumb as a rock because they are still just tools like an extension of a calculator, google, or smartphone.
