Complex Join in OBIEE is used on the BMM layer or the Business Model and Mapping Layer in the repository. The logical tables in this BMM layer can have various logical table sources (LTS). It is an intelligent join between the logical table sources of two tables in the BMM layer. When there are two columns selected for a query in the dashboard, the BI server notes the complex join between these two tables and dynamically chooses the LTSs to join. It means that you can use the BI server to select the join that is most efficient in the physical layer and further, translate the given query into a physical SQL.
