Can anyone tell me what is autocorrelation in data science?

Autocorrelation refers to the correlation between the values of the same variable. Autocorrelation is usually discussed often in time series data (the observations happen at different points in time). For example, we expect the temperature on the 1st day of the month will be more related to the temperature on the 2nd day compared to the 31st day.
